Buggy Tour of Punta Cana

Buggy tour of Punta Cana: off-road route with a cultural stop, cave or cenote and Macao Beach. The activity lasts 5 hours.

The experience begins with pickup at your hotel or the agreed meeting point within the covered areas. At the base, the team checks your booking, organizes the group and assigns the vehicle for your chosen option.

Before departure, you receive instructions on driving the buggy, wearing the helmet, keeping your distance and following the guide's signals. You travel in an accompanied convoy.

Leave the resort surroundings behind and discover rural roads and another side of Punta Cana. Depending on the weather, the trail can include dust, puddles or mud, all part of the off-road experience.

The guide sets the route and the group's pace: this is not a race. Keep your distance and follow instructions throughout the drive.

The cultural stop takes you to a local house or ranch, with explanations and the tastings specified by the operator. It offers a break from driving and a chance to discover the surroundings.

Punta Cana buggies: discover the Macao adventure

Rural roads, dirt trails and Dominican scenery

Drive along rural roads and trails around Macao, away from the usual hotel scenery. Depending on the weather, expect dust, puddles or mud. Wear clothes that can get dirty and enjoy the surroundings while following your guide.

The traditional route combines driving, a Macao Beach stop, a cultural visit and a freshwater cave. Stop order may change to organize the group and adapt to road conditions.

From your hotel to the ranch

Transportation collects guests at their confirmed hotel or meeting point and takes them to the ranch. The team checks your booking, assigns the reserved buggy and explains the controls, guide signals and driving rules.

You follow an accompanied route rather than finding your own way. Keep your distance, stay with the convoy and ask questions before starting. Confirm the age requirements for your option.

Macao Beach

The Macao Beach stop swaps dirt roads for light sand, sea views and coastal scenery. There is time to walk, enjoy the landscape and take photos before continuing.

Macao has surf and waves. Swimming depends on sea conditions and staff instructions; a beach stop does not guarantee safe swimming. Follow the group’s meeting place and departure time.

A traditional Dominican house and tastings

At the traditional house or ranch, learn about products such as coffee, cacao, tobacco and mamajuana. Explanations cover aspects of cultivation, preparation or craft production.

Taste the products offered that day and buy souvenirs if you wish. Purchases are optional. Drivers should avoid alcoholic tastings, and alcoholic drinks are not offered to minors.

Macao Taino Cave and freshwater cenote

Stairs lead into the cave and its freshwater area. The stop offers a chance to look inside and cool off after the drive when conditions and staff allow swimming.

Entering the water is optional. Use the designated access and never jump without express staff permission; a jumping activity or particular height is not guaranteed. If you prefer not to swim, ask where to wait. Take care on stairs and wet surfaces.

How the route unfolds

This outline describes the traditional route. Times and stop order depend on the departure, weather, terrain and guide’s arrangements.

  • Hotel or meeting-point pickup and transfer to the Macao ranch.
  • Welcome, safety briefing, vehicle instructions and buggy assignment.
  • Drive along rural roads toward Macao Beach.
  • Beach stop for scenery and photographs.
  • Traditional house or ranch visit, explanations about coffee, cacao, tobacco and mamajuana, and available tastings.
  • Drive to the cave and time for optional swimming in the cenote.
  • Return to the ranch along natural trails and hand back the vehicle.
  • Return transfer to your hotel or pickup point.

What the traditional route includes

Included are round-trip transportation within the covered area, use of the reserved buggy, driving instructions and guide accompaniment. The route covers rural trails, Macao Beach, the traditional house, tastings and access to the cave and cenote.

Check vehicle capacity and hotel coverage in your selected option. Pickup and return time is additional to driving and stops.

What to bring and what costs extra

The traditional route does not include swimwear, towels, sunscreen, meals, snacks, water or other drinks, professional photography or handicraft purchases. Bring what you need and confirm any purchase before accepting it.

  • Comfortable clothes that can get dirty and closed shoes suitable for mud.
  • Swimsuit, towel and sunscreen.
  • Protective glasses and a scarf or dust mask.
  • Waterproof pouch for your phone and personal items.
  • Water and money for drinks, photos or personal purchases.
